Why Gearbox?

Gearbox Magazine introduces you to fellow gearheads from all over the world, but have you ever wondered why?
Gearbox Magazine exists to do three things:
- Help build high performance machines.
- Help create a sense of global citizenship.
- Help gearheads build high performance lives.
To us, these are the tenets of a “gearhead;” a title worn with pride by those who apply their experiences in the automotive community to make something truly worthwhile – a difference. That might sound like fluffy, wishful thinking bullshit to some, but think about it for a minute.
Your time “playing with cars” has made you a better mechanic, but you know there’s more to it than that, isn’t there?
You’ve built a network of friends and acquaintances located all over the world.
You’ve benefited from these relationships; saving time & money and gaining expert insights.
As an automotive enthusiast, you’re naturally interested in high performance machines and probably spend a considerable amount of time focused on improving the performance of your own machines. You appreciate the effort that goes into a well done vehicle and can understand the passion driving such projects by other gearheads all over the world – even if you can’t understand a word they’re saying.
Gearbox Magazine wants to help you organize your professional toolbox.
We want to help you apply your experiences to move from dissonant concepts like “work-life balance” to more rewarding, work-life parallel situations.
So far, we’ve been sharing stories of other gearheads with you. It’s been our hope that you’d find things in common with them, discover some new ideas, and maybe venture beyond the comfort zone of familiar haunts in search of automotive adventure around the world. We’re going to keep doing this, but…
We’re going to start sharing some ideas how you might analyze, translate, and apply your automotive expertise to other areas of your life.
We’ve begun working on a number of projects aimed squarely at helping you maintain and modify your life. We’re talking to gearheads about their professions, working on a couple books, and even developing some live/interactive online events.
There’s no schedule in place for these things yet. We’re just going to run with them as they’re ready, but we wanted to give you a head’s up they’re coming – soon. We hope you like them and look forward to hearing what you think.
Until then, go fast with class.
