Cruise In, Netherlands

There are so many meetings during the summer time, you could visit one every day if you wanted to. How do you decide which one to go to? How do you know it’s worth a two hour drive? Well, you look into the history of that meeting. We did this as well, and found one meeting being held every Thursday from May till October and has been around for almost eight years. Every week there are at least 50 cars. Even on rainy Thursdays. What makes this meeting so special? Why do people from Belgium, Germany and even Luxembourg come to the Netherlands to visit this meeting on Thursday evenings? Let’s find out!
What makes this meeting so success ful? Nobody knows the exact answer. It’s probably the combination of free access (both for cars and visitors), the variety of cars, the central and easy accessible location and the “vibe.” Where else can you see a Jaguar E-type, BMW 318, Ford Mustang and a Ford Capri at the same time?

We asked a few people their opinions about the success of this meet and their opinions matched on several points. The free entrance, the whole atmosphere on the grounds, being able to get entrance with ALL vehicles built in or before 1979 (and exceptions are being made), and being together with people who are like-minded are the most important points of the succes of this meet. Obviously anyone can organize a meet, give everyone free entrance, and make sure there are a lot of like-minded people there, but how do you create the ideal atmosphere at a meet? Having the right people around at the right time is the answer. But how do you know who are those “right persons,” and what’s the right time to have them around? That will probably remain the question of the day. You only need a few “right” people to create the right atmosphere, but at the same time you also need just one to ruin it.

Obviously we took a LOT of pics. High quality and resolution pics are available upon request. Enjoy!
What do you think about this event/meet? How is it different from the ones you attend to or maybe even organize? Which car(s) do you like the most? Which the least? Let us know!
