Rotterdam RX-7 Type R is Damn
The FD3S RX-7. To spot one on the streets these days is a rare treat. If you’re lucky, you might see the odd FD in traffic on a major street through town; an older gentleman behind the wheel, simply enjoying the rich rewards of proper vehicle maintenance practice. If you’re really lucky, however, you come across someone like Kenji taking their FD for a spin, because, damn.
#GTKY: Loot
In the true spirit of the holidays, we’d like to ask two simple questions this week.
FSBO: 6-Second DSM
It’s a totally tubular, 1400hp, RWD DSM dragster. Brent Rau’s “OSO Fast” car. I remember seeing this car run at the DSM Shootout a few years back. Ridiculous. And now it can be YOURS!
Modify Your Life, Part 5
One of the neat things about being a gearhead and knowing how the various systems and assemblies on our vehicles work is that we can use our understanding of them to help us better understand other things. I like to think of this as “automotive metaphor.” Today, what say we see what we can learn about life by thinking about traction and handling on a car.
#GTKY: Road Tripping
Remember that least before getting your driver’s license? The promise of personal freedom was so close we could taste it. Soon we would be able to top off the tank and go anywhere we wanted. The world was ours.
Why I’ve Fallen in Love with My Wife’s Juke
Turbocharged, all-wheel drive vehicles have a special place in the hearts of Mitsubishi owners. We always want to give them them the benefit of the doubt. We can see the potential. Which is perhaps why the only positive things I can remember anyone saying in the thread on the Mitsubishi forum where I first saw a picture of the Nissan Juke have to do with the powertrain.
Thinking Big: The Caterpillar 793F
Not to demean your 7.3L Ford Powerstroke and its years of supremely reliable service hauling the tools which put food on your table in any way, but THIS is a work truck. I Want One SO Bad. Doesn’t matter if it’s slow and they won’t let me drive it on the street. These things are tough.
Make Mine a 1992, Please
Our friends (at least, I hope we’re friends) over at Hooniverse ran an interesting story earlier this week. Bradley Brownell asked their readers, “Could you recommend a vintage?” Basically, the game was to share a single year when just about everything a specific manufacturer had on offer was awesome. Mr. Brownell’s story focused on the 1985 Toyota lineup, with the Celica, MkII Supra, MR2, Hilux, and so on. Stuck in a meeting earlier today I thought I would recommend a 1992 Mitsubishi.
