Dominica: Abandoned Treasure
Dominica, 2011. Located somewhere in Dominica is an old Toyota dealership – completely abandoned! And yes, they left all the cars as well!!
A couple of weeks ago, I received a mail from a good friend; telling me about something he saw on the internet. The intro and the pictures already tell you what exactly it is he told me. So, the researching began and I just had to find the guy who found all these cars laying there and who had took the pictures.
After a few hours of emailing back and forth, I found the guy I was looking for. I hoped for a lot more pictures and information to share, but the time between replies always took weeks. After some time we received the permission to show all this on Gearbox Magazine, and received a little bit more about the background on things. I was told he might have some more pictures in the future, so when I do get those; you’ll see them on here ASAP.
It turned out that this dealership went bankrupt, and everything was just left there ‘as it was.’ Every car you see in the pictures is practically new, and the only damage to them has been done by nature over time. There are even new cars still in their containers, and hopefully they have survived the battle against nature better than the cars standing in the lots.
This ST185 Celica GT-Four is just standing there, just across the street from the dealership. Probably for promotional purposes, but it never got the chance to be brought back in.
According to the information we received, there will be an auction for all these cars and parts within a short amount of time. Any news on this will be available on Gearbox Magazine as soon as we receive word and we’re hoping to show you some more pics of this within a few weeks. But this story is simply too epic to just lay on the shelf untill the moment we just might get a few new pictures or information. If we ever do…
