Southwest Washington’s 1-Star Service Facility
Marty Sederberg will drink your beer, tell you stupid stories, and pull your chain. And his company, NW Mitsubishi Diesel, promises you won’t find a lower level of service anywhere in the rural area. We love their style. Get to know someone doing engine swaps that you DON’T read about in the glossy magazines.
Dude, Where’s My Car? At the Crime Scene.
In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Lord Polonius says the now famous line, “Neither a borrower nor a lender be.” As much as we tend to think about this phrase in relation to borrowing or lending money to friends and family, the same goes for tools and, yes, even our precious vehicles. In all these cases, it feels nice to help out those who matter most to us, but with our vehicles, it can be a point of pride, but at what cost?
#GTKY: Annual Adventures (and the Newbie Table)
If you’ve never made a trip across the country (or the globe) to hang out with gearhead buddies in person, let me put this as gently as I possibly can – YOU ARE MISSING OUT. BIG TIME. The time spent on the forums, in chatrooms, on Facebook – none of these compare to the time spent out in the real world with our friends. This week, for #GTKY, we want to know about your annual automotive adventures.
Forum Friday: Gearhead News from Across the Web
Do you consider new car reviews “news?” We don’t. Don’t get us wrong, as car guys (and gals), we get a kick out of seeing the latest sheetmetal and plastic to get iPod connectivity, touchscreen navigation, and OnStar, but there’s so much going on in the automotive world that’s more important, namely, what are the gearheads up to?
2012 Summer Gearhead Games
The Summer Olympic Games take place in London, England, in July. Medals will be awarded for all manner of summer sports, including equestrian (horse), cycling/mountain biking, even canoe and sailing. For all the power, speed, and agility tests involving vehicles, there will be no automotive games. We think that should change, even if it means we design our own Summer Gearhead Games. Here’s some ideas on what that might look like.
Back to the Past: Spa Retromobile Meeting 2008
We are always looking to bring you stories you won’t find anywhere else. We like to interview you (gearheads make the world go ’round), but we got to thinking maybe you’d like to see some of the things we’ve seen over the years. We’re going to start going back in time to report on past automotive events, starting today, with these pictures from when I attended the 2008 Spa Retromobile Meeting in Belgium.
#GTKY: Gearhead Power Ups
We believe gearheads make the world go around. Gearheads aren’t satisfied with the status quo. Stock might be fine for most people, but not for us. Stock is a starting point for machines performing at levels likely never imagined by the original engineers. Still, those engineers are gearheads too. If they weren’t passionate about the design and manufacture of vehicles, we might all still be driving Ford Tempos, Chevy Citations, and Opel Kadetts.
Dirtiest Pictures of Your Car?
It’s winter in the northern hemisphere. In a big part of the world that means that there’s a lot of bad weather, freezing, and snow. For me it’s the opportunity to see my car dirty like it’s never been before. What’s the dirtiest your car has ever been? In the winter, rain, rally, or whatever; show your pics!
#GTKY: Your Home Forum
Welcome to #GTKY. This week, we change gears. You’re probably on several discussion forums. Most of us are. Well, we’d like to introduce you to a new community – ours. You know most forums focus on specific makes, models, or locations? Ours is different. If you’re into anything with a driver’s seat, anywhere in the world, you’re part of this community.
