Bio

According to my parents, the first word I spoke was “car.” Not sure if that’s a good thing—or a spectacular failure on their part—but there you go. I grew up in Sarnia, Ontario, and have held a variety of jobs in the automotive industry, including as both detailing staff and after-school (licensed!) car salesman at a family run dealership.

After moving to Toronto to study journalism at Centennial, I started reviewing cars. In 2004, I won the Toronto Star’s Young Auto Writer of the Year award, helping open a few doors in the tough world of freelance automotive writing.

I love printed material but believe that the Internet is the future for relevant, easy-to-find information. As the editor of Sympatico.ca Autos, I’m always trying to find the best writers and attack stories from a different angle. I’m happy our readers are intelligent, and want to present information in a way that honours their knowledge of cars and experience on the road. I don’t drive as much as I used to, because I’m either investigating some new Internet technology or busy fawning over vintage Citroëns.
