Dude, Where’s My Car? At the Crime Scene.
In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Lord Polonius says the now famous line, “Neither a borrower nor a lender be.” As much as we tend to think about this phrase in relation to borrowing or lending money to friends and family, the same goes for tools and, yes, even our precious vehicles. In all these cases, it feels nice to help out those who matter most to us, but with our vehicles, it can be a point of pride, but at what cost?
Leaps of Faith & Driving Change
A while back, our friend Casudi introduced us to Chris Holstrom out of Washington state. He grew up in a gearhead family; his father a professional mechanic and his brothers Mustang enthusiasts. In 2007, he took a leap of faith – he started his own vehicle restoration/customization business: Chris Holstrom Concepts. Have you taken such a leap? Could you build your own Chevy Volt ?
Well, yes you could, but would it be under $33,000 ? and have similar components and electric range ?
Lets have a look. (disclaimer: this post turned into a fudged math laden beast in a hurry, all figures are estimates, but prices are real. I could be 100% fatally wrong about all of this :)
Mark Selig’s 1990 Corvette Project
Awhile back Gearbox Magazine asked our readers what they would change on Gearbox. Your feedback said you wanted interviews on projects not just completed builds. With that – here is your first project interview. Mark’s taking what Chevy did for the Corvette and making it better and . . . faster.
